This fable highlights the virtue of saving for a rainy day. Who would you like to be, ant or the grasshopper?

When all the birds faint in the hot sun and hide in cooling trees. The voice of the grasshopper rang from hedge to hedge singing of the new mown-mead. He is lazy and sings away the summer, while the hardworking Ant piles up stores for the winter. Who, in your opinion choses to spend their time more wisely? This story features a choice, making it the perfect selection for introducing the idea of economic choices. Economists assume that individuals make choices that seek to maximise the value of some objective, in this case, survival. Individuals maximize by deciding whether to do a little more or a little less of something. Economists argue that individuals pay attention to the consequences of small changes in the levels of the activities they pursue. Once the grasshopper began to pay attention to the consequences of his negligence common sense dawned, the grasshopper begs the ant for food. The ant refuses and the grasshopper starves to death. Moral Idleness brings want.
